Apulia ishte e banuar qysh nga mileniumi i trete me popullate Ilire. Ata erdhen nga Deti Adriatik dhe e quajten kete toke Japigia. Ajo ndahej ne tre regjione Daunia (Apulia Veriore), Peucezia (Apulia Centrale) dhe Messapia (Salento antike)
Apulia was already inhabited in the third millennium BC by the Illyrian people. They came from the Adriatic and called this land Japigia. It was separated into three parts Daunia (Northern Apulia), the Peucezia (central Apulia) and Messapia (ancient Salento).
