Ishulli i Braçit është ishulli më i lartë dhe i treti me madhësi në Detin Adriatik. Ishulli u emërua sipas dre-ut – BRENTOS në ILIRISHT, një kafshë kulti i fiseve ilire që banonin në ishull. Grekët e quajtën Elafusa dhe Bretanide që rrjedhin nga greqishtja elaphos – dre. Gjetjet në shpellën lokale janë dëshmi e pranisë së drerëve në Braç në periudhën parahistorike. Historiani romak Polybius e quajti atë Bretinë, Plini Plaku Brattia ndërsa në itinerarin Antinoe të shekullit të 4-të përmendet si Bractia. Zlatni rat, Vidova gora, shkretëtirën e Blaçës, hyrjet e thella, pemët e ullinjve, vreshtat, pishat përgjatë detit t”kristalt, qartë janë imazhet që vizitorët e shumtë sjellin në shtëpi nga ishulli Braç.
The island of Brac is the highest and third largest island in the Adriatic Sea. The island was named after a deer – brenthos in Illyrian, a cult animal of Illyrian tribes who inhabited the island. Greeks called it Elaphusa and Bretanide which derives from the world elaphos – deer. Findings in local cave are the evidence of the presence of deer on Brac in the prehistoric period. Roman historian Polybius called it Bretia, Pliny the Elder Brattia whilst in the Antinoe itinerary from the 4th century it is mentioned as Bractia. Zlatni rat, Vidova gora, Blaca desert, deep inlets, olive-groves, vineyards, pine wood along the crystal clear sea are images that numerous visitors bring home from the island of Brac.
