Profesori grek Dimou, ne nje intervist tek New York Times thote se;
“Ne flisnim shqip dhe quanim vetveten Bizantine”, por atehere Winckelmann, Goethe, Victor Hugo, Delacroix,, të tërë na thanë, “Jo, ju jeni Grekë, pasardhës direktë të Platonit e Sokratit”, dhe atehere filluan problemet.

Kam 12 vjet qe them nuk ka grek, vetem Akademia jone e Shkencave nuk me beson. Nuk lash gje pa lexuar dhe nuk dilnin asgjekundi, dilnin vetem shqiptar.

Faktet historike jane shume kokeforta dhe ne shqiptaret u perveluam nga krijimi i Greqise fallco se na moren padrejtesisht nje territor dhe nje popullsi te madhe qe na u tjetersua.

Ata shqiptar qe nuk pranuan te beheshin grek fallco u debuan. Krijimi i grekeve fallco, eshte ndoshta marrezia me e madhe ne historine e njerezimit dhe aventura me e madhe qe kane bere disa shtete Evropiane.

“It’s the fault of a German,” Mr. Dimou said about Greek pride in this cause. He was referring to Johann Winckelmann, the 18th-century German art historian whose vision of an ancient Greece “populated by beautiful, tall, blond, wise people, representing perfection,” as Mr. Dimou put it, was in a sense imposed on the country to shape modern Greek identity.

“We used to speak Albanian and call ourselves Romans, but then Winckelmann, Goethe, Victor Hugo, Delacroix, they all told us, ‘No, you are Hellenes, direct descendants of Plato and Socrates,’ and that did it. If a small, poor nation has such a burden put on its shoulders, it will never recover.”
